8 Reasons Why DC Fanboys Are Jealous Of The MCU

8. Marvel Showed Ambition And It Paid Off

The MCU Is a hell of achievement when you consider the state of superhero movies before Iron Man. Trilogies that petered out in the final act were the norm for even the biggest characters and DC's hit series, Nolan's Batman was destined to end on the director's whim and not the studio's discretion. Instead of simply releasing a series of disconnected films starring top characters, Marvel came up with a model that allowed them to bring the thrill of comic book event series to life in a way that had never been seen before. The gamble paid off, with the MCU spawning one of the top five highest grossing movies of all time and an increasingly successful string of TV shows. Marvel has arguably changed the face of studio filmmaking with its audacious super-franchise, with extended universes the direction everybody is pulling towards now, but DC? Well, they're just joining the scrum to get a foot on the bandwagon really.
