2. Marvel Comics Has Bigger Plans For Him
For its part, Marvel Comics is making a heavy push to increase Morales' profile. After the end of the current Secret Wars comic book crossover, Marvel's alternate Ultimate universe -- where Morales is Spider-Man -- will no longer exist. Morales is moving from the Ultimate universe to become Spider-Man in its regular Spider-Man books and he will also be joining the Avengers. These moves will familiarise thousands of readers who didn't read Morales' Ultimate comic with the character. The announcement of the move already made headlines, which got Morales' name out among non-comics readers. Featuring Miles Morales in the main Marvel comic book universe will undoubtedly increase his profile, and those who only know of him as the "biracial Spider-Man" will find out more about him. Comic fans had little problem with an African American Nick Fury once they had the chance to read about him, and presumably the more people who read comics with Morales in them will help the character become better known and more accepted as Spider-Man. That will eventually put Morales in a much better position to headline a movie.
