8 Reasons Why X-Men Origins: Wolverine Is Underrated

1. Three-Mile Island & "Back-To-Back!"

Yes, okay, 'Weapon XI' was the absolute massacre of a fan-favourite character, but at least the final showdown between Wolverine, Sabretooth and Not-Deadpool was an awesome tussle. The whole 'back-to-back' fighting style - whilst played up as more strategically intelligent than it actually is - makes for a visual delight as Not-Deadpool teleports to and fro so quickly that he's fighting Logan and Sabretooth at the same time. The fact that the climax is also set on Three Mile Island - a real location which actually suffered a nuclear meltdown - is a nice historical touch. In Fox's X-world, the very-public meltdown in 1979 was actually secretly caused by Wolverine and Sabretooth's fight with Weapon XI. As his head falls into the nuclear ractor, it spins around, continuing to randomly eject the concussive beam from his eyes; it's a pretty cool moment to watch as it brings down the entire cooling tower. It's a shame that the entire final fight is then undermined by the whole memory-stealing-bullet thing. So what do you think? Can you forgive that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a flawed film as a whole, because of some of its stronger elements? Strike back in the comments below and let us know!
