8 Reasons You've Been Wrong About Scarface Your Whole Life
8. Tony's Inherently Ultra-Violent Death Wish
When bringing characters to life it's important to consider a few things like what they want, what personality flaws they carry, what is their overall temperament towards the world, and what motifs will be displayed throughout their journey. Filmmakers have to consider carefully how all this will come together, or otherwise characters may appear shallow or in some cases just too much. In the case of Tony, he is too willing to die over anything and everything in every single scene. No matter who he's talking to or the situation the guy is just looking for a reason to throw down the gloves for a death match. Even in times when it's uncalled for Tony still looks to provoke a fight as if he is seeking an untimely death. A guy like Tony Montana would never last five minutes out on the street in the real world of gangsterdom. He might have "grande cojones" as they say, but the dude barely shows an ounce of respect for anyone. He even tries to pick up the boss' hot wife on his first time hanging out with the guy.
