8 Reasons You've Been Wrong About Scarface Your Whole Life

2. People Think Tony Montana Was A Real Person

Without a doubt Scarface is definitely a very influential classic of modern gangster cinema. In many ways (not in the artistic department) it overshadows Scorsese's Goodfellas, being a bigger hit within pop culture. The special features of the movie include featurettes containing interviews with real gang leaders and rappers all claiming Tony Montana as a hero of their people (despite Tony being an Italian guy pretending to be Cuban). Each one of them either glorifies Tony for what he did or says what happened to him was a wake up call for their own lives. It looks like Scarface did some good then, and isn't that just neat. Only Scarface is a movie and Tony Montana is a fictional character played by Italian American actor Al Pacino. In no way was Tony Montana ever real. People lose their minds when confronted by this fact. "No" they say offended,"Tony's real...well, at least he was based off people who were real." Okay, using that logic Indiana Jones and James Bond would also be real, but...whatever.
