8 Ridiculous Gaps Between Film Sequels And Were They Worth It?

Dumb and Dumber To (2014) €“ 20 Years

This one is simple: it's not worth the wait. Jeff Daniels has enough going for him but Jim Carrey on the other hand needs the world to know that he still needs to eat. It is safe to say that Carrey is no longer a "thing". His childish and energetic shenanigans were all the rage in the 90's but now are only ancient history. Why do we need a sequel to Dumb and Dumber? There isn't one. If there is one role that Carrey can apparently go to that people care about, he believes it is Lloyd. Can the humor hold up after 20 years? The kind of comedy audiences go for has certainly changed. It will be difficult to see if Harry and Lloyd can pull in an audience after so much time, especially after a drained career for Carrey. It seems desperate but after two decades someone sees this as potential.

Finding Dory (2016) €“ 13 Years

Finding Dory No one understands how it took Disney/Pixar ten years to give a Finding Nemo sequel the go ahead, Pixar's second highest grossing film worldwide, but we got a sequel to Cars, Pixar's third lowest grossing film, in less than five (creating arguably Pixar's worst film). Finding Nemo was sweet, charming, and fun. It's hard not to like this film and even more difficult to say "no" to watching it when you get the chance. But is Finding Nemo even a movie that can have a sequel? The story was pretty open and shut. And given that the title is Finding Dory, we know that the lovable and goofy sidekick will be the center of focus. Which is all great and fine until you remember another film that brought the sidekick to the forefront, Cars 2, where it seemed like nothing more than a money grab for tickets and merchandise. So can Finding Dory be different? Can this work on the better side of Pixar sequels? Given that the cast and crew itself have a lot of faith in this project and that fans really want to see it, it just may be worth it. But it has to have an actual story to tell, a story that, unlike Monsters University, has a purpose to being made. As of now, yes, Finding Dory may be worth the wait if we all keep our hope and thoughts positive I believe.
