8 Ridiculous Movie Title Changes

4. What I Did On My Summer Vacation

In case you hadn€™t noticed, there was a bit of a commotion around Mel Gibson a couple of years back. This has been followed by what can only be described as a terrible run of form at the box office. Get The Gringo didn€™t even get a full US theatrical release, going straight to video-on-demand, but due to good performance in foreign markets, there was a chance it could reap big from a UK audience. As no one this side of the Atlantic has a clue what a Gringo is (my guess is that its some sort of large rodent found in the Australian outback), a title change was needed. So what did they do to make the film appeal to the Great British public? They released it under its production name; What I Did on My Summer Vacation. Great job guys, except for the fact that vacation is an entirely American word; everyone in Britian goes on holidays. Swapping one foreign word for another is not a smart move; unsurprisingly, the movie tanked.
