8 Ridiculously Awesome Movie Crossovers (That Could Actually Happen)
4. X-Men And The Fantastic Four
The official word on whether Fox want to team up the X-Men with the newly rebooted Fantastic Four or not has swayed back and forth, and there'll probably be no ultimate decision until they know whether this dramatically new take, due in August, is a hit. There's certainly no need for a crossover. The X-Men universe is already pretty expansive as it is, covering multiple timelines and once again trying the spin-off route, with Deadpool and Gambit films set to hit in 2016, so teaming up Hugh Jackman and his rotating cast with Marvel's original super-team isn't necessary to boost the series, which has been chugging along since 2000. Still, with superhero team-ups so in vogue it'd probably take The Fantastic Four flopping in an embarrassing way for this to not be something Fox would consider - if putting James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart in the same scene together can make Days Of Future Past bigger than Spider-Man, you can just imagine what having The Thing in there could do. And even if the Josh Trank-directed reboot does end up underwhelming on a Green Lantern level, it wouldn't be surprising if the Fantastic Four don't wind up swinging by the mansion just to fill the "making new movies" clause of the character rights - it may not be a property audiences relate to in the same way as Iron Man, but you can bet Fox don't want the rights to revert back to Marvel.
