8 Scariest Twist Movie Endings That Will Keep You Up At Night

5. Sleepaway Camp

The Mist Ending
United Film Distribution Company

Often bullied for being a cheap imitation of Friday the 13th, Sleepaway Camp has so much more to it - it's an amalgamation of the best bits from across the genre built together into one big Frankenstein's monster of a movie with a twist so satisfying you'll wonder why it gets left out of the conversation so often. Whilst definitely derivative of Jason's playground, the ending entirely justifies the whole experience.

When Angela, Peter, and their father John go swimming, John and Peter get into a terrible accident with a rogue speedboat - killing them and leaving Angela to be looked after by eccentric aunt Martha. Eight years later, she's sent to Camp Arawak with her cousin Ricky, and mercilessly tortured for being different to the other kids. When murders start happening more and more frequently, Ricky comes under suspicion for defending his family; but it isn't until the very last moment we learn that Angela is behind the grisly deaths.

Oh, only Angela isn't Angela and is actually Peter, meaning the original sibling died in the initial accident, and he's been forced to grow up pretending to be a girl by his aunt who always wanted a daughter. His bare d*ck turns out to be the clue that something is amiss.

Alfred Hitchcock, eat your heart out, this one is staying with us for some time yet.
