8 Scariest Twist Movie Endings That Will Keep You Up At Night
4. Saw
With how many years have passed, and how many shoddy entries there have been into the franchise, it's pretty easy to forget just how great the first Saw movie actually is. Featuring a baby James Wan making his first waves in the industry, Saw set up a murder mystery that was almost impossible to figure out - throwing two strangers together, Lawrence and Adam, to work out their murky histories as the set up for a terrifying game.
To add to the whole creepiness of the affair, there's a corpse joining them in the middle of the floor. Lovely.
Eventually, Lawrence escapes whilst Adam is left behind - but it's too late for him. The dead body turns out to notably not be dead when he gets up and locks Adam in the room, revealing himself to be the Jigsaw killer behind the whole operation.
Trying to tie together all the strings of this film is half the fun of watching it, and having one previously overlooked option peel himself out of a pool of blood is just as surprising as it was 14 years ago. Saw might have devolved into cheap torture porn, but it started off with incredible intelligence underneath the reams of blood, and this film's ending is the shock moment that defined it.
