8 Sci-Fi Movie Remakes You Didn't Know Were In The Works

News of a Timecop remake first surfaced in 2010, and while things haven't progressed a great deal since then, it's never been officially cancelled, and does have writers and producers attached.

Mark and Brian Gunn - who penned Journey 2: The Mysterious Island - were said to be writing the script back in 2014, with Marc Shmuger coming onboard as a producer and Mike Richardson executive producing.

The original 1994 Timecop starred Jean-Claude Van Damme as Max Walker, a U.S. Federal agent operating in a society where time travel has been made possible.

Apparently, the remake will focus less on the sci-fi and more on delivering a gritty, street-level police story, with sci-fi elements in the background (think Rian Johnson's Looper).

That makes a lot of sense; this way, the film's budget would be reduced (making the remake less of a financial risk) and the filmmakers would still be able to deliver a product that lives up to the premise.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
