8 Smartest Decisions Made By Saw Characters

4. Simone Chops Off Her Arm (Saw VI)

When Simone and Eddie are locked in a room in Saw VI and told to cut off chunks of their own flesh, they both go about that gruesome task in two completely different ways, and in the end, Simone's method proves to be the much smarter play.

Being a bit on the chunky side, Eddie starts cutting small pieces of flesh right off his flabby stomach, which isn't very efficient. Not that there's a simple or easy way to mutilate yourself, but if we look at things rationally, Eddie's fleshy chunks are pretty small, and they take a lot of time (and pain) to remove.

Simone initially tries a similar method, aiming to slice off small chunks of flesh (in her case, her fingers) to tip the scales in her favour. But when she's unable to go through with this, she eventually says 'to hell with it' and decides to lop off a huge amount of flesh in one big chunk - her left arm.

Yes, it's still painful as hell, and yes, she has to sacrifice an entire arm, but it's undeniable that taking an 'all in one go' approach is far better than chipping away at your body in small pieces. Just look at Eddie, who methodically tried to remove small lumps of stomach blubber, when he could've just chopped off his arm with a few brief swings and won right away. Poor guy.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
