4. The Flash: Rebirth Or The Flash: Moving Forward
Although The Flash: Rebirth is one of Geoff Johns more controversial pieces, it nevertheless is the most important Flash story in the past decade. Penned right after Berry Alan, the Silver Age Flash, was resurrected in Final Crisis, The Flash: Rebirth re-establishes Berry Alans back-story while also revealing the origin of the Speed Force. Since every story (including the recent TV show) after it has been built upon the foundations Johns laid in Rebirth, theres a good chance that the upcoming Flash film, starring Ezra Miller, will most likely use Rebirth in some form or fashion. As that WB has not revealed much about the plot for the Flash film, we are still in the dark about which Flash villain will be taking centre stage. The Flash: Rebirth is a great Reverse Flash story; however, if you are looking for a book that highlights more of Berry Alans rogues, check out The Flash: Moving Forward. Written by Francis Manapul and Brian Bucellato with Francis Manapul also on art, The Flash: Moving Forward was the first Flash volume for The New 52 and does a great job introducing the Flashs rogue gallery. Where The Flash: Rebirth is very continuity heavy, The Flash: Moving Forward is an easy place for new readers to start.
