8 Stupid Movie Moments When Superheroes Spectacularly Dropped The Ball

7. Bruce Wayne / Batman (Batman Forever) €“ Failing To Keep The Batcave Locked

The thing about a secret identity is that it's supposed to be exactly that...secret. And yet over the course of four films, Bruce Wayne revealed his superhero persona to Vicki Vale, Selina Kyle, Chase Meridian, Dick Grayson and Barbara Wilson... Sometimes it makes for a great story (the twisted love affair between Bruce / Selina and Batman / Catwoman) but it also led to some unfortunate mistakes €“ the creation of Batgirl for one and worse still, Robin. Compared to some of the moments on this list, it isn't the most spectacular fail, but it can be attributed to the beginning of the end for Batman at the movies. It's the moment that Chris O'Donnell took those steps towards becoming Robin, culminating in the catastrophe that was Batman And Robin a couple of years later. For letting O'Donnell join the superhero roster alone, it deserves a place on this list. Perhaps I'm being a little unfair. The various Robins are a key part of Batman lore and it will be interesting to see if he (or she) gets a decent portrayal on further Batman films now that Ben Affleck is taking over the mantle of the Dark Knight. But for now...we have this terrible movie version...better to stick with 1960's Burt Ward then the 1990's travesty.
