8 Terrifying Horror Comics That Should Be Made Into Movies
3. Infidel
Following the booming success of Jordan Peele's Get Out, the discussion of a greater emphasis on societal and racially-motivated horror has been growing louder year after year, which is why now would be the perfect time for a big screen adaptation of Pornsak Pichetshote's horror series Infidel. Centred around an American Muslim woman who has recently moved into a multicultural apartment complex, we follow Aisha as she adjusts to life in her new circumstances.
Little does Aisha know, following a mass murder in the complex, the site became haunted by ghouls and entities that feed off of xenophobia. These entities take many different twisted forms and are genuinely unsettling to the eye, meaning they are great for the typical jump-scares as well as a slower, more methodical use to build the horror through suspense.
How on the nose this premise may appear to be is forgivable due to the theme of the series: despite a deeply disturbing story that brings to light many of the issues that different ethnic minorities face on a daily basis, Pichetshote's characters maintain an inspiring hopefulness that promises better days to come. This is something that will deeply resonate with many viewers, and is exactly the kind of fresh look into horror that Hollywood needs.
