It's one of the most iconic scenes in one of Tarantino's most iconic films but, for the love of god, don't go slamming any needles through your friends' sternums in the event of an overdose, à la Pulp Fiction.

There are no benefits to delivering medication this way. Seeing as the average person's entire blood volume circulates the body in a minute or so, administering drugs intravenously (i.e. into a vein) would be just as effective, if slightly less dramatic.

So you wouldn't gain any precious, life-saving seconds, but what you will do is cause your patient/victim to bleed to death via the hole you have just made in one of the most vital of their vital organs - not to mention running the risk of puncturing a lung while you're at it.

While we're on the subject, you might want to pay some attention to what exactly you're firing into your friend's chest cavity in the first place...
