8 Things The DCEU Is Doing Better Than The MCU (So Far)
4. Female Characters
The MCU has some strong female characters, such as Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Shuri (Letitia Wright), Okoye (Danai Gurira), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) among others, but the DCEU has a considerably better line-up.
In terms of the main female hero in the two franchises, we all love Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, but she's not given quite as much focus as DC's Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot). Wonder Woman is not only one of the most lovable superhero characters of recent times, but she had a fantastic hero's journey in her solo movie too.
In the DCEU, there's also Margot Robbie's brilliant, endlessly entertaining and morally complex Harley Quinn and the many bad-ass, beautifully-played women she teamed up with in Birds of Prey.
Meanwhile, we can't forget Lois Lane (Amy Adams) and Martha Kent (Diane Lane), both of whom are miles better than the versions from the Christopher Reeve films.
Additionally, there's a group of very solid female characters in Shazam! and Suicide Squad's Amanda Waller (including a superb Viola Davis, who gave one of the all-time best performances in a terrible movie).
