8 Things The DCEU Is Doing Better Than The MCU (So Far)
2. Romances
One thing the MCU truly sucks at is romances. Only three of the romances in that franchise have worked - Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, Star-Lord and Gamora and Peter Parker and MJ.
The DCEU is doing a hell of a lot better here. Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor had the best superhero movie love story of all time; they've got amazing chemistry, they're completely adorable and the way in which the romance develops both of them as characters is great.
Aquaman and Mera were a good pairing too and Jason Momoa and Amber Heard worked very well together, while both of them developed in a meaningful way as well.
As for Superman and Lois Lane, they were pretty weak in Man of Steel, but were far better in Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League and you got a real sense of how much they cared about each other. The only romance which hasn't really worked so far is Harley Quinn and the Joker (Jared Leto) and that's only because they've barely been seen together.
Considering how bad most superhero movie romances are, the fact that this franchise has got three out of its four romances right is a minor miracle.
