8 Things We Want From Halloween Kills
5. More Depth To Karen And Allyson Nelson
It seemed that in every piece of marketing for the 2018 movie the roles of Laurie Strode's daughter and granddaughter were hyped as our new protagonists. It was hoped that Laurie Strode would have allies in her fight this time around and Michael Myers would experience a lot more resistance than usual.
However, that isn't exactly what we got. While Curtis was praised for her portrayal of an embittered and scarred Laurie, Judy Greer and Andi Matichak were not so lauded.
While their performances were good, their characters felt somewhat underdeveloped. Although all three women eventually rally and successfully trap Myers by the film's conclusion, it is brief and as an audience we want MORE of that.
More development of these two characters who briefly showed that bright spark of "final girl" potential at the conclusion is something fans and critics alike are longing for from Halloween Kills. Greer's Karen in particular showed a great promise for bad-assery when she flawlessly tricked Michael Myers into taking a bullet through the face.
Both women also share loss, trauma and rage going into Halloween Kills, so will the film seize all of this and have them rise up to become our new protagonists? Will they lead the charge for the injured Laurie Strode? It'd be great for Halloween Kills to fully deliver on its predecessor's promise of centering three unstoppable women in its story.
