8 Things We Want From Halloween Kills
3. More On-Screen Bloodshed
While John Carpenter's 1978 original was certainly not a gore-fest, cinematic appetites quickly demanded more from our favourite slashers as the sub-genre grew. Consequently every subsequent Halloween film has had a certain brutality quota to fulfil, and they have for the most part delivered.
Audience expectation was certainly high in the lead up to the release of the 2018 sequel with blood-soaked promo pictures and the promise of "visceral" gory sequences. It was quite a surprise and... slightly disappointing when the final film delivered many of its deaths and suggested gory moments off-screen. For some, seeing the aftermath just wasn't enough.
With Halloween Kills set to arrive exactly three years later, many of the same words are being spun in the press. Series creator John Carpenter teases the film as "the ultimate slasher film" with "an insane body count." Oh, how we hope this is true!
With Kills in the title, the hope is that the movie has some quite nasty surprises in store for audiences. The gloves are off and fans want to see Michael Myers truly rampage after being bested... With the first teaser kicking off with a gruesome slow-motion throat slash, hopes are high that The Shape is back at his nastiest and delivering truly visceral (on-screen) carnage.
