8 Things You Need To Know About Ben Affleck's Batman Movie
3. Ben Affleck Is Writing And Directing
As you've no doubt already heard, part of Ben Affleck's deal when he signed up to join the DC Extended Universe as the new Batman was to take the helm of a solo movie for the character. After his work on movies like The Town and Argo, you can appreciate why the studio would push for that, and seeing Affleck finally make the leap to big budget filmmaking after almost adapting The Stand promises to be fascinating. Surprisingly, a report before Comic-Con actually revealed that he'll be doing more than directing. Affleck is also co-writing the movie with comic book scribe Geoff Johns, the critically acclaimed writer of titles like Green Lantern, Justice League, and of course, Batman: Earth: One. He's also written some of the best episodes of Smallville and The Flash, so DC Entertainment's CCO has plenty of experience away from comics. Had Chris Terrio not been busy with the two-part Justice League movie, it's possible that he would have reteamed with Affleck here, but putting the actor/director with Johns to work on the script is something of a dream team and ensures that whatever vision he has is going to be fully realised due to him being involved with all aspects of making The Batman a reality. Now that is something well worth being excited over.
