8 Times Actors Broke Up On Movie Sets

Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult first met during a screen test for X-Men: First Class (2011). The two actors shared an instant rapport, and when both of them bagged roles in the film, they began dating.

Although they briefly split up in 2013, they rekindled their relationship while filming X-Men: Days of the Future Past (2014). Soon after, they bought a house together in London, and engagement rumours saturated the tabloids. Yet, it was not long before they broke up once again, and this time their separation was permanent.

Making a clean break was made difficult for the pair upon the collapse of their romance, because they still had to work together on X-Men: Apocalypse (2016). Thankfully, their characters, Mystique and Beast, shared less screen time than in previous X-Men films, which likely made their transition from lovers to co-workers slightly easier. The same cannot be said for the way in which the press fixated upon their split, releasing stories of rumoured public screaming matches and alleged conflict between the pair due to Lawrence's "expanding ego".

The ex-couple, who are apparently on good terms nowadays, have both moved on with their lives since their break up. Hoult now shares a son with his model girlfriend Bryana Bezlaj, while Lawrence married art gallery director Cooke Maroney in 2019.
