8 Times Hollywood Didn't Care What You Think

2. Ghostbusters 2016 Completely Wasting The Original Cast's Cameos

Look, if you're going to take a beloved - and I do mean beloved - property and fit it for a new generation, you've got to handle the original with respect.

Obviously there was a monumental backlash against even the idea of "doing another Ghostbusters" without the original cast (such a thing is now impossible after Harold Ramis passed away anyway), but to then include the remaining members in minor roles is just weird.

The first trailer for 2016's Ghostbusters actually intoned that this was more a sequel than a reboot too, opening with "30 years ago, four scientists saved New York".

Does this mean we're going to get Bill Murray and co. in mentor roles, perhaps cameoing to ease the new gang into the world of stream-crossing and trap-deployment?

Nope. The following trailer ditched this approach, and the movie saw Murray, Dan Akroyd, Ernie Hudson AND Sigourney Weaver play forgettable nobodies that could've been played by extras.
