8 Times Hollywood Didn't Care What You Think
3. Everything About The Han Solo Spin-Off Movie
Where to even begin.
Casting? Minus Donald Glover, terrible. The plot? Filled with a tick-box list of "What to put in a Han Solo prequel", from Kessel Runs to "bad feelings about this". Even the very notion of doing a prequel movie about Star Wars characters leaves a bad taste after, I dunno, the prequels.
Still, Disney charged ahead. Original directors, 21 Jump Street's Phil Lord and Chris Miller, were fired as Ron Howard replaced them to turn the script around in record time. The only presumed saving grace was that Lawrence "I wrote Empire" Kasdan was the guy actively wanting to do the movie in the first place, yet in the end, there's not a single element you can pluck out that feels remotely essential.
Fans never wanted it, the production only spelt out the word "DISASTER" with each passing news bulletin, and the end product bombed to the tune of losing around $150 million dollars, if not more.
