Bradley Cooper is eaten by a mountain lion! ...Sorry for the spoiler, but I'm confident no one who decides to sit down and watch Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence's most recent work together is hotly anticipating how it ends. They probably just want to watch two extremely gorgeous celebrities continue to get all up in each other's lips onscreen. And though there is some of that in this dull-but-polished period piece, there's also BRADLEY COOPER GETTING EATEN ALIVE BY A F*CKING MOUNTAIN LION, YOU GUYS! There's also a weird layer of creepiness just under the surface of this romance-drama, and while it would have been great if the director had explored those facets of the story a little more, it's kind of fascinating to watch this handsomely woven story start to unravel. Besides, there are certainly worse ways to spend your time than watching Cooper and Lawrence cozy up to each other in a steady melodrama. These two have chemistry even when the film's DNA is missing a few strands. Adjusted Score: 33%
