8 Upcoming Films That Will Change Everything

6. Star Wars: Episode IX - The Franchise As We Know It

We all know what happened with The Last Jedi. Whilst it doesn't matter which side you're on, those that defend Rian Johnson's creative license or those that would literally rather see him impaled on a lightsaber than step anywhere near a Star Wars movie ever again, what is important is that Episode VIII already has changed everything.

From a glorious return to the saga with The Force Awakens to Rogue One's brilliant spin off, the positivity surrounding the franchise all but died out when The Last Jedi flopped. Just ask Solo: A Star Wars Story about it.

Episode XI will be the final chapter in this generation's telling of Star Wars, and it's release will be the definitive moment as to whether this trilogy is regarded in the same way as the originals, or if we get prequels version two. If Episode XI doesn't make it through the rigorous hoops set up by the fanbase, Star Wars will be going away to think long and hard about what it's doing.

And if it does, that terrible period of Star Wars fever might just come back - meaning you won't be able to move for knock off biscuit tins and lightsaber pens once more.

Either way, it's got some serious consequences for how we see this cinematic behemoth continue. With how deeply Star Wars has become ingrained in our culture again, it's a strangely poignant moment for a film about laser battles and space wizards.
