8 Upcoming Horror Films To Be Pumped For In 2019

5. The Lighthouse

Back in 2015, an art-house horror film came out and collectively blew everybody out of the water. Whether it was earning ringing endorsements from the actual real-life Satanic Temple, being showered with rave reviews from critics, or inspiring casual filmgoers to vomit and/or flee the theater, The Witch seemed to leave a mark on all who saw it.

Acting as the feature-length debut of director Robert Eggers, the film was incredibly well-made and has gone on to inspire a ton of other more artistically-minded horror films in the years since (see: Hereditary). Thus, cinephiles the world-over have been waiting with baited breath for the director's follow-up and in 2019, they'll finally get it with The Lighthouse.

Very little is know about the film as-of-yet other than it stars Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson as characters names Old and Young, respectively, has been filmed in black-and-white 35mm film, and that producers have referred to it as a 'dark fantasy' horror film. Assumedly, it features a lighthouse of some sort but other than that, plot details remain scarce.

However, Pattinson did recently reveal in an interview that he came the closest to punching a director as he ever has on this film, saying;

"However much I love Robert [Eggers], there was a point where I did five takes walking across the beach, and after a while I was like, ‘What the f*** is going on? I feel like you’re just spraying a fire hose in my face. And he was like, ‘I am spraying a fire hose in your face.’ It was like some kind of torture. That’s the closest I’ve come to punching a director."

So there you go, it's now officially must-see entertainment.
