8 Upcoming Horror Films To Be Pumped For In 2019

2. World War Z 2

It Chapter 2
Sony Pictures

If you're confused as to why a World War Z sequel would rank so highly on this list, here's two words for you: David Fincher.

While this sequel's production has been repeatedly postponed due to scheduling conflicts, it looks as though production is set to finally begin in 2019 with an eye on a late 2019 release date. Who knows if any of that will actually happen, but good God we can hope.

Because this isn't just any zombie sequel, this is a David Fincher-helmed zombie sequel. Fincher rose to prominence in the late nineties, delivering incredible and challenging films like Seven and Fight Club. Since then, he has been constantly honing in on his craft and becoming one of the greatest visual storytellers in the history of cinema (big words, but its true).

His most recent film was Gone Girl back in 2014, which is entirely too long for film audiences to have gone without a Fincher film showing at the cinema. The idea of a new Fincher film is enticing enough, but the idea of Fincher working with a gargantuan budget to deliver a zombie horror blockbuster? That sounds too insane to be true.

An auteur such as himself properly returning to horror for the first time since he got so badly burned by Fox in the making of Alien 3 is practically a miracle and we cannot wait to see what he does with this.
