8 Upcoming Movie Sequels Destined To Fail

6. Scream 5

Fantastic Beasts Newt Scamander
Dimension Films

I'm sure most of us horror hounds would love for Scream 5 - which is now seemingly just called Scream - to be a resounding success, but there's a massive fear that the impending fifth outing for the movie franchise is going to end in disappointment.

The major elephant in the room here, of course, is that Wes Craven is sadly no longer with us. The director of all four Scream films to date - not to mention countless other movies that mark Was out as one of the greatest talents in horror history - Craven tragically passed away in 2015.

This means that Scream 5 will be the first entry in the series to not be directed by Craven, although it could admittedly prove an inspired choice to have Ready or Not duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett as the ones tasked with helming this new film.

A good portion of horror hounds will likely eat up another cinematic Scream outing, but it will have been 11 years since the last Scream movie by the time that Scream 5 finally gets here in early 2022.

Will the masses still have an interest in heading back to Woodsboro? Will this most iconic of horror franchises be able to serve up a film worthy of Wes Craven's legacy? Will the so-so response to Scream 4 and the disappointing Scream TV series have turned off the established fans of the franchise?

Only time will tell.
