8 Upcoming Movies Undergoing Reshoots (And What It Means)
5. Jungle Cruise
The Reshoots
The initial report about The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle's reshoots also confirmed that Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt's upcoming adventure tentpole Jungle Cruise will be undergoing an additional round of photography soon.
This follows Johnson's announcement late last year that the film was being delayed from October 11, 2019 to July 24, 2020.
What They Mean
With the film still more than a year away from release, there's certainly no reason to believe Disney is at panic stations yet.
After all, the delay was announced mere weeks after shooting concluded, and could be more a case of Disney balancing their books and not overloading their already-stacked 2019 slate.
But given that this is the first full-on tentpole film from director Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows, The Commuter), whose projects are typically of the mid-budget variety, it's definitely possible that his lack of experience has become apparent during editing.
Johnson and his Seven Bucks Productions company are co-producing the film, though, and given that the overwhelming majority of his projects enjoy a smooth post-production process, we're going to give Jungle Cruise the benefit of the doubt. For now, at least.
