The Reshoots

It's probably fair to say that most people rarely think of the words "Adam Sandler" and "reshoots" in the same sentence, given that the overwhelming majority of his films - especially those released straight-to-Netflix - feel like they were shot and edited about a week before they came out.

But his upcoming film Murder Mystery started reshoots a few weeks ago in Los Angeles, with both Sandler and co-star Jennifer Aniston returning to set for another round of photography.

What They Mean

Honestly, the fact that a Sandler-starring Netflix comedy is even bothering to go back and fix issues is pretty encouraging, and this is likely at the behest of director Kyle Newacheck, who as co-creator of Workaholics, quite probably fostered an improv-heavy work environment.

And as wonderful as improv is, it doesn't always give you the best choices in editing, so it's possible these reshoots were simply to provide more coverage and tighten the overall edit up.

Or, you know, it's a big 'ol mess. But between Newacheck's involvement and the oddly distinguished supporting cast - including Luke Evans, Gemma Arterton, Terence Stamp and David Walliams - this feels like it could be a cut above your average Sandler streaming romp.

Fingers are crossed, anyway. Murder Mystery lands on Netflix on June 12.
