8 "Upcoming" Superhero Movies That Will Never Actually Happen

3. Justice League Dark

The Film: With Guillermo del Toro (who else?) set to direct, this will focus on the more unlikely team of superheroes from DC, the Justice League of oddballs, weirdos, and dark characters who make up Justice League Dark, featuring John Constantine, Deadman, Zatanna, Swamp Thing, and more. Why It Won't Happen: While still actively in-development, it's difficult to see how these characters would fit into the DC Extended Universe, as they don't particularly seem to fit with the approach they're taking (then again, nor does Aquaman). It's yet another one that del Toro has been talking about for years, and has a lot of plans for, although the latest is that he won't actually direct - unless he gets a space in his schedule, which is doubtful - and the current rumour has George Miller in line to take the reigns of this one. The most well-known and easily translatable character, Constantine, has been the subject of a movie that bombed and a TV series that was cancelled. Despite people behind-the-scenes wanting this to happen, that indicates there just isn't the demand for these characters, in a mainstream sense at least, and it doesn't seem likely to ever actually come to anything.
