8 Ways DC's Extended Universe Will Change Comic Book Movies Forever

6. Marvel Finally Gets Some Competition

Up until this point, Marvel Studios really hasn't had to worry about competition. Sony screwed up the Spider-Man franchise so badly that they had to turn to them for help, while for every hit Fox makes, they seem to end up delivering a Fantastic Four type movie which inevitably disappoints. However, these DC Comics adaptations stand a very good chance of moving into the dominant position held by Marvel and taking over. After all, while Marvel's releases still do well, Avengers: Age of Ultron failed to come surpass its predecessor either financially or critically, and the likes of Justice League and Aquaman may very well feel like a breath of fresh to casual moviegoers. If Warner Bros. get these movies right, they could very well become the dominant studio in Hollywood for successful superhero adaptations, and Marvel will be forced to up their game.
