8 Ways DC's Extended Universe Will Change Comic Book Movies Forever

3. Everything Goes Back To Being Dark And Gritty

Whenever anyone talks about these upcoming DC Comics adaptations, words like "dark", "grounded", and "gritty" do seem to get thrown around an awful lot. It was Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy which led to rival studios attempting to capture that same tone, something which has often backfired (see: The Amazing Spider-Man). However, if audiences embrace these movies, expect to see that become the norm. Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad seem to be heading in that direction, and while it's unlikely Marvel will change their formula, you can bet your life that other blockbusters and tired franchises will attempt to go down a similar route if these movies succeed. Just like the success of Deadpool is going to inevitably lead to pale R-Rated imitations, these darker DC Comics movies finding success will no doubt have a similar impact.
