8 Ways DC's Extended Universe Will Change Comic Book Movies Forever

2. The Villains Take Over

Had Sony not royally f***ed up The Amazing Spider-Man 2, this year would have seen the release of Sinister Six, a villain led release which would have been a rival of sorts to Suicide Squad. As things stand, it's up to that movie to now prove that the bad guys are just as capable of holding their own on the big screen as superheroes, and should it exceed expectations both critically and financially, supervillains WILL take over. Harley Quinn getting her own spinoff feels like a guarantee, while the likes of The Joker, Deadshot, and the yet to be cast Deathstroke and Red Hood (both of whom are rumoured to appear in The Batman) could also hold their own. If Suicide Squad works, expect to see Sinister Six return to Sony's release schedule, while Marvel Studios may very well start casting an eye towards finally bringing the Thunderbolts to the big screen.
