4. The Big Death Is More Impactful
While Dawn Of Justice was brave enough to actually follow through with Superman's death, it didn’t leave a huge impact because the audience knows he’ll come back for the next movie. Since Suicide Squad features DC's b-list there’s no guarantee everyone will make it, which made the big death of the movie way more impactful.
It’s doubtful anybody expected El Diablo to be a standout character, but the combination of his character arc, his memorable design and Jay Hernandez’s sympathetic performance is sure to make him a fan favourite. In contrast to Superman’s self-pitying you really grow to like Diablo, so when he makes the choice to sacrifice himself for his team it means something.
It’s unlikely he’ll be coming back for a sequel either, while we have lots more of Henry Cavill’s shining charisma to look forward too. Slipknot also dies, but somehow that doesn't feel as tragic.
