8 Weirdest Accidents On The Sets Of Films

1. Jim Caviezel - The Passion Of The Christ

The Passion of the Christ, Mel Gibson's film about the death of Jesus, caught a lot of heat from Christian groups for its graphic depiction of the events leading up to (and including) Jesus Christ's crucifixion.

Nobody seemed more ticked off than God himself though, as lead actor Jim Caviezel suffered a slew of rather thematically appropriate injuries during production.

Whilst filming a scene where he carried a 150-pound crucifix, an actor that was supposed to assist Caviezel as he fell missed his mark and ended up dislocating the actor's shoulder. JC (the actor, not Jesus Christ) also came down with a particularly bad case of pnuemonia as a result of a long, cold shoot outside.

He was also accidentally whipped, for real, by an actor who was instructed to use life-like props for the scene - TWICE. Then, just to top it all off, Caviezel was genuinely struck by lighting whilst shooting the film's famous "Love your enemies" speech, along with assistant director Jan Michelini. It's honestly hard to believe some higher power didn't have a hand in all of Caviezel's numerous injuries, especially given how on-brand some of the retribution against him was.
