3. The Genie Is The Peddler In Disguise - Aladdin

The Peddler is the first character seen in Aladdin, who kindly offers to tell the viewer the origin of an oil lamp in his possession. Since the character was voiced by Robin Williams – who also voices the Genie – and share the same hyperactive personality, a convincing theory emerged claiming he was really the Genie’s human form.

His robes look just like the Genie’s, they shared the same blue colour scheme and both have four fingers on each hand. It remained a theory for two decades until the director’s confirmed it, and the original concept was the Peddler would reveal himself to be the Genie at the end.

It makes sense for the Genie to be the one telling the story, but this plot point was ultimately dropped from the final cut since Disney wanted to leave the character fully powered in case of a sequel.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
