2003's Razzie-winning comedy Gigli is frequently cited as one of the worst films ever made, a bizarre attempt to shape a crime caper narrative around the real-life relationship of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, or as the media dubbed them at the time, "Bennifer."

Gigli was destroyed by critics and won six Razzies, for Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, Worst Actor, Worst Actress, and perhaps most embarrassingly of all, Worst Screen Couple for Affleck and Lopez.

Worse still, it didn't even recoup 10% of its unfathomably large $75 million budget, and marked the start of a major career downturn for Affleck, who subsequently suffered through a string of flops with Paycheck, Surviving Christmas, and Jersey Girl all bombing both critically and commercially.

In recent years, Affleck has spoken out about Gigli's failure in particular, claiming that the film became such a big target for the press because of his at-the-time relationship with J-Lo.

Affleck said, "It could have been a bad movie no one cared about. Angelina Jolie had a bad movie that year and nobody cared. But because I was dating Jennifer Lopez that made it a big f**king deal, you know? And not only is it a bad movie but, 'They're dating each other in the bad movie!'"

Five months after Gigli's release, Affleck broke up with Lopez, reportedly due to his discomfort with the intense media scrutiny surrounding their relationship. Ouch.
