9 Actors Who Overstayed Their Welcome In Roles
1. Ben Affleck - Batman
Putting aside personal opinions on the film for a moment, Affleck was at least trying to do something different with his performance in Batman V. Superman. It may not have consisted of creative choices everyone agreed with (looking at you, ludicrously high murder count), but Affleck gave his all to the performance, physically and emotionally.
But somewhere along the way, something changed inside Affleck's head. Maybe it was the overwhelmingly negative reaction to BvS, maybe it was the realization that he was going to have to stay in tip-top shape for years to come, maybe he saw Suicide Squad and it traumatized him just like it did everyone else. Who knows?
The one thing we know for certain is that Affleck straight up gave up on lending any kind of credence to his portrayal of Batman. Justice League featured a very visibly bored Affleck doing as little as humanly possible. From the lax and slow-moving action sequences to the expressionless face he donned anytime he was supposed to be having an 'emotional' moment, it was clear that he simply could not care less.
The end result was a performance that sets a new low bar in terms of actors' takes on the caped crusader and confirmed what we already knew; after just two films and a cameo, Affleck is seriously reconsidering signing on for this.
