9 Actors Who Overstayed Their Welcome In Roles
2. Daniel Craig - James Bond
The man said he would rather slit his wrists than play Bond again, but he's still playing Bond. Jokingly, maybe? Maybe not?
Allow that to sink in.
Flat-out, Craig hates the work he's done here and it is absolutely obvious in every scene he's in. What was once a stoic but interesting new take on the character has become nothing more than Craig serving as a cardboard cutout of James Bond. No one performer has ever loathed a role quite as openly or obviously as Craig does. Despite the fact that after every film he speaks about not wanting to ever return to the franchise, he inevitably continues to return.
What the franchise and Craig need is to let each other out of the toxic relationship they are seemingly trapped in. There is literally a cavalcade of A-list actors who have spoken publicly and passionately about how badly they want to play Bond (see: Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, etc.), and Craig is a gifted performer who continues to deliver absolutely stellar work in other films (See: Logan Lucky, Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, etc.).
They bring out the worst in each other and it is far past time to just call the whole thing off.
