7. Captain Marvel Links The Avengers To The Guardians Of The Galaxy

Aside from the obvious fact that both teams exist in the same universe that Thanos will threaten to destroy with the Infinity Gauntlet, there is very little to connect the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the moment. However, the fact is that they are destined to fight alongside each other in the Avengers: Infinity War movies, so what could possibly bring them together, given the massive distance between them across the cosmos? One fan theory states that it will be Carol Danvers AKA Captain Marvel. The superheroine's solo movie actually comes between the two Infinity War movies in 2019, so she is literally the individual who ties the two movies together, which makes the theory make sense. It is theorised that she will be the director of S.W.O.R.D. - who are effectively S.H.I.E.L.D. in space - and she will recruit the Guardians to help the Avengers in their fight against Thanos on Earth (perhaps after the Mad Titan has swept Iron Man and company aside with ease in the first of the Infinity War movies).
