9 Awesome Remakes Of Terrible Movies

5. Little Shop Of Horrors

Captain America
Filmgroup / Warner Bros.

The Original: B-movie king Roger Corman directed this cult comedy about a man-eating plant, and it was shot in a breathtakingly fast two days. The movie is most famous for Jack Nicholson’s brief appearance as a creepy patient who really likes going to the dentist, but aside from that the film is distractingly cheap and the humour forced.

The Remake: The movie was later turned into a successful musical, which formed the basis of the 1986 version. Everything about this remake improves on the original; it has a cast that includes Steve Martin and Bill Murray, the music is insanely catchy and the film captures the jet-black comic tone the original tried – and failed – to achieve.

Audrey II makes for a creepy – and oddly likeable – villain, and despite being a bit of a disappointment at the box office it’s since gone on to become a cult classic.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
