9 Baffling Horror Movie Mistakes You Never Noticed

8. The Floor Pattern Changes - The Shining

Visionary filmmaker, Stanley Kubrick, was legendary for his attention to detail. But while directing The Shining, there was a couple of errors that evaded his attention.

Most of these flubs are very minor but there's a big one that's hard to miss since it literally takes up the entire screen. While Danny is playing with his toy trucks, he notices a ball is tossed towards him, seemingly by an unseen force. As he looks up towards the empty hallway, the camera lingers on Danny's face to emphasise his fear. But if you look at the child's surroundings, you'll notice the carpet pattern is facing the opposite direction it was a moment ago.

Because of Kubrick's meticulous directing, some die-hard fans believe this "mistake" is intentional and is meant to highlight the otherworldly nature of the hotel that Danny's family is staying in. However, you could use this logic to justify any irregularities in The Shining. There is no question that Kubrick was a genius but it's far more believable that the acclaimed director just made a slip-up while shooting this scene.
