9 Baffling Horror Movie Mistakes You Never Noticed

2. Apples Change In The Background - Orphan

Orphan movie
Warner Bros.

In Orphan, a couple decide to adopt a nine-year-old girl called Esther, believing she will help them rekindle their relationship. But as strange things start happening in the neighbourhood, the couple suspect there is more to Esther than it seems.

But Esther isn't the only thing that has something wrong with her - there is one shot that has become infamous for its atrocious continuity. 46 minutes into the movie, Esther is in a grocery store while her adoptive mother Kate is on the phone. It's obvious this scene was reshot, since the food in the background changes. In one shot, there are dozens of apples behind Esther but in the next shot, they're gone.

The apples may be the most obvious blunder but that's just the tip of the iceberg. The soda containers switches from cans to bottles. Lemons and tomatoes appear and disappear like it's a bloody magic trick. Literally every single item in the counter behind Esther is swapped with something else between shots.

Ironically, the continuity of Esther's coat, hair, and ribbon is absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, the continuity guy forgot about everything else.
