Given the popularity and critical reception of Transformers spin-off Bumblebee, it was inevitable that we'd see more spin-offs from the franchise that Michael Bay kicked off. And now, we have the expected confirmation - via The Playlist and Deadline - that a direct Bumblebee sequel is now being made.

Paramount are now moving ahead with the sequel to Travis Knight's nostalgic actioner - which sits on 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, according to the original report by Deadline. There's no plot detail yet, but they say that the studio want to do a direct sequel rather than jumping into the present day. So more 1980s joy, hopefully.

Deadline also talk up the possibility of more Transformers films in the future, which fits with the studio's mooted plans to expand the universe even after Bay stepped away from it.
