9 Big Questions After Comic-Con 2018
4. Will Halloween Really Be Able To Live Up To The Original?
Blumhouse graced the stage at Comic-Con for several reasons, to premiere the aforementioned Glass trailer, to hype up their upcoming Purge TV show. But perhaps most notably of all, they brought the cast and crew of the new Halloween film out on stage a premiered some never before seen footage from the film that absolutely set the crowd on fire.
The buzz was practically deafening coming out of the panel, with a great many audience members taking the chance to predict the film will easily be the best since John Carpenter's 1978 original. So, can the new Halloween possibly live up to the hype?
Director David Gordon Green does have a great deal of experience crafting great films, from Pineapple Express to Joe to Stronger. And with the involvement of legacy cast and crew such as John Carpenter in both a producing role and as the composer of the film's score, original Michael Myers actor Nick Castle returning to the role for parts of the film, and the original scream queen herself, Jamie Lee Curtis, anchoring it, it definitely has a chance.
The first trailer featured some of the most striking cinematography and lighting choices in the franchise and reports from inside the panel seem to indicate that the new footage very much continues to fulfill this promise. Here's hoping Michael Myers can redefine terror for a whole new generation with this one.
