9 Bizarre Minor Movie Cameos Made By Massive Actors

6. Dan Aykroyd Appearing In Pixels For No Clear Reason

Blues Brothers! Trading Places! Ghostbusters! Ghostbusters 2. Blues Brothers 2000... Oh well, at least Dan Aykroyd never did 2rading Places. The SNL legend who dominated the eighties' comedy landscape now doesn't seem to have quite the edge he once did, does he, instead going after more financially motivated roles; he was the one who was desperate for Bill Murray and co. to reunite for Ghostbusters 3. His nadir? A brief, out-of-character cameo in Pixels.

At the start of Adam Sandler's 2015 complete desecration of an originally great short film (although it did have that one good joke about the benefits of sex with Martha Stewart), Aykroyd cameos as the host of the most contextually-oblivious gaming competition ever, doling out exposition with what appears to be nothing more than complete and utter disinterest. Naturally I find it hard to believe this was done out of any real interest in the project, and must instead have been a for-the-money gig, which is a fine win for Sandler; Aykroyd ties into the eighties nostalgia and his part almost acts as a passing of the comedy torch (sickening a suggestion as that may be).

Maybe he really needed the inflated paycheque. Or maybe it has something to do with the other thing Aykroyd's known for nowadays; his vodka (admittedly those skull bottles are pretty cool). What do you know, they also pop up in Pixels. Coincidence? I'll let CinemaSins answer that one.
