4. Matt Damon's Completely Hidden Appearance In Interstellar

Throughout the early portion of Interstellar we hear an awful lots about famed scientist Dr. Mann (geddit?), a pioneer regarded as the best of us (geddit?) who led a previous space-faring expedition to find new hospitable worlds after Earth succumbs to blight. Eventually, following Matthew McConaughey perfecting his cry face and proving Christopher Nolan can actually do emotion, we head to Dr. Mann's (geddit?) planet. And... he's Matt Damon?!

Dr. Mann (geddit?) is a pretty large part to call a cameo appearance, but the way in which Nolan kept Damon's presence under wraps all the way up to release (it was known that Damon had some role in the movie, but he'd been cleverly kept out of any marketing) make it less about his role in the plot (in case you didn't get it, he's more of a metaphor) and more an elaborate show of force to the rampant online spoiler brigade.

The best thing about this appearance is that it was subsequently kept absent from all the movie's promotion heading into the home video release, meaning new viewers can still get the same "Wait, what?" factor. He's not even listed in the main cast on IMDb!
