9 Comic Book Movie Moments That Need To Be Retconned
4. Emma Frost Is Boring Eye Candy (And Dies Off-Screen) (X-Men: First Class)
The Moment: January Jones' take on the White Queen herself, Emma Frost, relegated to a relatively inert supporting villain role and little else, before dying off-screen in Days of Future Past. Why It Needs To Be Retconned: Because, for starters, Jones is a pretty terrible actress outside of Mad Men, and though undeniably beautiful, she gives a rather wooden portrayal of the popular comic book character. In fairness, the script could have given Jones so much more, as she lacks the trademark wit of her comic book counterpart, and doesn't really get to do a whole lot to establish herself as a true force to be reckoned with. She's pretty much just eye candy, and because of the fact that the character had such a mild reception from fans, Frost was killed off-screen by the time Days of Future Past took place, her fate announced by way of a file. Will It Be?: Not a chance. Though it'd be great to find out that Frost actually survived and is back (played by another actress, hopefully) for X-Men: Apocalypse, it looks like comic book fans will most likely have to make do with what's on the page and just try to forget about Jones' rather passive, dull interpretation of the character.
